Waikerie Dog Lover Overjoyed with New Friendship

An animal lover from Waikerie who misses his late guide dog has a new best friend thanks to the RSPCA.

Colin Priestley grew up surrounded by animals. His father used to breed Fox Terriers and he and his family trained dogs for many years even as he was losing his eyesight to a degenerative disease, retinitis pigmentosa.

His friend Kenny from Cadell (one of our favourite listeners) got in touch to say Colin has been trying to track down another furry friend while waiting for a new guide dog in 2021 as he had been unlucky when inquiring with local shelters.

Carolyn Jones from the RSPCA and the Dog Care Team managed to track down a beautiful mature Labrador/Blue Heeler-cross called Jett who has been looked after thanks to donations in during this season’s RSPCA Guardian Angel Appeal.

Carolyn and Colin join Jennie Lenman in this podcast for a chat about it.

The RSPCA Guardian Angel Appeal gives animal lovers an opportunity to sponsor dogs, cats and other animals in need to help them recover and prepare for the next stage of their life.
